Alex Ramírez Torres

Puerto Rico - Board Member

Alex Ramírez Torres has been the Executive Vice President of the Puerto Rican Epilepsy Society since 2003. Alex manages a team of more than 10 employees, in five offices throughout Puerto Rico, that provide direct services to over 7,000 participants annually. He has always demonstrated a high degree of integrity. He offers his support to others with professionalism and sensitivity. He is a person who always treats people with respect and moral values. He has proven to be creative, willing and cooperative. The knowledge he has acquired in his role as Executive Vice President of the Epilepsy Society ensures the positive direction of the center and guarantees a focus on achieving results.

Alex is very dedicated to his professional career. He serves as a volunteer member of the Alliance for Access to Treatment which seeks to ensure improvements in health services.  He is a Collaborator and Civil committee member of Oxfam America, the Puerto Rican Civil Society that fights for recovery funds.  He also serves as a volunteer member of the State Council on Developmental Deficiencies.

Alex has a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Puerto Rico, with a subspecialty in intervention with families and children. He has credits leading to a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Carlos Albizu University, San Juan. He carried out his professional practice in the Pediatric Oncology Unit of the San Jorge Children’s Hospital. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Sacred Heart University for efforts in service to the Victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Alex joined the Epilepsy Alliance America board on January 1, 2024.
