Angie Nelson leads the Epilepsy Advocacy Network as the Executive Director. Angie has worked with people who have epilepsy for the last 10 years, after her daughter’s diagnosis. She is considered to have a resolved case of childhood seizures. Angie developed an Advanced Childcare Program for Children with Disabilities that was taught in several schools, has received training by Epilepsy Alliance America for seizure response and first aid, and can provide continuing education for school personnel to be compliant with HB 1475 as a Nationally Registered Paramedic through NREMT with licenses in IL, IA, and FL. She has provided leadership and consulting for other national non-profits and has over 20 years of experience in the non-profit social services industry. She is experienced in public speaking having given numerous presentations to students, nurses, teachers, community groups, employers, and more.
Angie has experience in all aspects of case management, she is well versed in requirements of the ADA, IEP’s/504 plans, grant writing, business, and administration of non-profits. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL as well as certifications such as Non-Profit Leadership Certification, State of Illinois Lead Instructor, CPR/First Aid Instructor & is a Certified Passenger Safety Technician. Angie has a passion for helping people in their times of need.
